P428B Pride 428 Japanese reissue
New Balance’s first basketball sneaker, released in 1983, the “Pride 428″ or P428 has just been reissued again as the P428B. There are three Japanese colorways now available at shops like Mita. The 428B is updated for the times with a mesh toe box, Abzorb and EVA core shock-absorption materials.
I have read that the original P428 was worn by M.L. Carr of the Celtics. A former star NBA guard, Carr played for the Pistons then the Celtics, who he later coached. Nowadays Mr. Carr is a published author and runs a charity, WARM2Kids. And according to one report he serves on New Balance’s board of directors.

New Balance 2007 – 2008 preview
Here we have some previews of 2008 and Fall 2007 NBs! Looks like 574/576′s along with a pair of 710 hightops and a pair of Zips.
The first three (whites with the crazy N’s, the black & golds, and the brown thatched Zips) are reportedly for 2008, the rest for Fall 2007.
UPDATE — Got some ID’s on these thanks to Drew NB. The first white one is in the Japanese A0 series with one-piece construction and stitching similar to the 574ILL. The black/gold polkadots is a Japanese 576. The Zip is a US design with reflective 3M and suede woven together. The hightop 710 is also Japanese, as are the orange/red/blue and black/green/yellow 576′s below it. After that we have a US artist edition NB 574 collaboration with Avenj, and lastly a US 576 Factory Plaids celebrating NB’s domestic factories in Maine, also available in purple and navy Woolrich material. All of these will be available in the US starting in Fall 2007.

UK 670 GN Grey Navy at NB Japan
A made-in-UK M670 is available at NB Japan. They’re calling it M670UKGN, the GN most likely meaning grey/navy. Looks like the price is ¥20,790 or ¥19,800 (about $160) w/o tax. Check it out here.

Mita has a new Limited Edition New Balance CM1600 in black and green. Looks like sizes US 7-11. Their price including tax is ¥15,100 or about $125.
As you can see the green makes use of forest and lime green suede, black leather, what looks like silver 3M, and gold stitching. The “N” really pops! The black ones, while more subdued, make use of the same variety of materials plus a speckled sole. Both use NB’s ABZORB shock absorbtion technology.

574 Japanese LTD restock at Turf
Turf here in the Yay Area has got their paws (no furry) on a grey/orange/white 574 that was a Tier 1 release in Japan last year. At $80 this looks like a top deal. See it on their blog here.

670 Mita x Victim
Mita has released a CM670V in collaboration with Japanese fashion label, Victim. See it here along with an interview (Japanese language only).
There are two colorways, brown and black. Looks like they went with simple, understated designs in the spirit of New Balance Classics.

Here are better pics of the wildstyle 990 posted yesterday, the M990EXBM, now also said to be a tribute to Japanese console games. The upper looks to be made of white leather, black patent leather and purple suede/nubuck, along with rainbow laces and an embroidered logo on the heel.
The sole however is totally different from the previous photo. Instead of NB’s Zip soles with shock-absorbing struts this model features a large dose of Abzorb® EX, with the air pocket around the outside.
“Abzorb® EX is a combination of New Balance’s premium Abzorb® foam and a peripheral pocket of non-pressurized air that is encapsulated in an engineered thermoplastic.” — NB
